Staff Software Engineer

In this role, you will be responsible for:

 

Responsible for design, implementation and review of architecture related to software underlying multiple digital products that provide video metadata to the consumer: Investigate and analyze verbal and written requests for application software, interpreting application requirements to construct highly complex applications. Engage with product owner to understand, clarify and challenge the requirements and underlying assumptions made. Seek clarification around nonfunctional requirements, such as throughput and latency. Design product components and participate in design decision-making. Produce code in several programming languages to implement software features, in order to collect, process, clean, and store big data, and provide it to end-enterprise customers. Write Integration and Unit test suites. Develop data processing pipeline handling more than 100 million events per day. Create documentation of new features and enhancements, and other architecture artifacts. Investigate, communicate, and resolve issues when data quality issues arise. Support project and deliverables in production, including ensuring that internal tools are fully functional and accessible. Train users on the internal tools and help resolve any issues that arise. Conduct performance tuning and optimization of existing software. Analyze current systems and implement the optimizations. Evaluate new technologies, products and frameworks, and work closely with product managers and architects to ensure successful adoption of the same in the final product. Provide regular project updates to stakeholders and highlight any foreseeable, associated risks. Involves domestic and international travel (primarily India) once per year, for 1 week per trip. Oversee (without supervisory authority) up to 2 Software Developers. Tools and technologies used: Kotlin, Java, C#, Postgres or MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch or Redis, Unix/Linux, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kafka, RabbitMQ, Groovy, Bash script. 

 

FOR THIS ROLE, WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE:

 

Minimum Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with an information technology focus (foreign equivalent degree acceptable), plus 5 years of experience in software development. Experience must include: 5 years working as a full-stack or backend developer with expertise in Programming languages such as, Java, Kotlin or C#; 4 years of experience in: designing and developing high performance customer facing APIs; 3 years of experience in: development of data extraction, and transformation; development of complex queries to build reports using reporting and analytical tools such as, RDBMS, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, or Redis or MS SQL Server; and development of high-level architecture design of current and future state solution based on business requirements and value propositions; 2 years working with Unix or Linux systems and Cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS; and 1 year working with highly scalable data processing pipeline architecture using tools such as: Kafka, RabbitMQ, Apache Spark, Apache Storm, logstash and/or Microsoft message queue. Any level of experience in and/or knowledge of: Groovy, Bash script and setting up continuous integration and delivery environment. Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally (India) once per year, for one week per trip.
