Lead UX Researcher – 40315

As a Lead UX Researcher, you will reveal what our users need and experience from our products by conducting primary and secondary research, exploring the behaviors and motivation of our users and helping design experiences that reimagine how people and organizations thrive. You'll work with other user experience designers, developers, product managers, analytics partners, and other creatives to elevate and standardize Nielsen’s product experience.

As a Lead UX Researcher, you will:

  • Lead a team of UX Researchers to create an intuitive, cohesive and seamless user experience across the Nielsen Connect product portfolio.

  • Be able to demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of testing methods and methodologies.

  • Provide thought leadership to help assess opportunities and define the product roadmap through strong partnership with Product Management.

  • Implement end-to-end experiences that remove effort and friction for internal and external clients and drive desirable changes in user behavior.

  • Conduct analysis and present recommendations to address identified performance gaps against digital alternative solutions and services.

  • Grow and lead a team of researchers to strategize the UX requirements of client-facing digital assets.

  • Increase understanding and document jobs to be done for clients through research and voice of client feedback.

Who we are looking for

A Lead UX Researcher who is eager and capable of transforming Nielsen’s UX Research space. This person will identify, develop, and own the UX Research strategy across our Nielsen Connect product portfolio. This person is responsible for socializing and evangelizing the UX practice – how it works and how we collaborate with our cross functional partners. This person is comfortable creating and presenting designs to peers, internal stakeholders, and clients, while clearly communicating design rationale and tradeoffs. In this role, the Lead UX Researcher will also have the opportunity to build a high-performing team of Researchers, while coaching and mentoring them along the way.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a UX research role

  • Experience developing and conducting a wide range of types of usability tests as part of a user-centered design process

  • In-depth understanding of UI design

  • Wide range of knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative UX research methods, such as lab-based or remote moderated usability testing, unmoderated testing, user interviews, field research, and survey research

  • Working knowledge of statistics and experimental design

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence key stakeholders and interact with clients

  • Passion for using data to inform decisions and to advocate for our users

  • Expertise in Excel, statistical analytics software familiarity, survey software familiarity, Qualtrics, usability software familiarity (UserZoom, UserTesting.com, Validately, OptimalSort or equivalent)

  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch and Invision

  • Experience leading a team of UX / UI professionals
