Driving Change For Women In Nielsen

Cecilie is based in Denmark and serves as the Market Leader for the Nordic countries. Cecilie also maintains a leadership role on Nielsen’s employee resource group, Women in Nielsen (WIN) in Europe, and has since led many global and local initiatives. Cecilie’s involvement in WIN has helped her develop as a leader. It has also given her the opportunity to network with many other Nielsen associates around the world.

I’ve always enjoyed learning, being challenged and adapting to ongoing changes. At Nielsen, I’ve been given opportunities to learn and grow in many different roles and functions, and I’ve been exposed to an array of cultures and countries.

Change has been a constant, and over my past seven years with the company, I’ve worked with more teams and seen more of the world than I had ever dreamed of. I’ve had great leaders and mentors, and they’ve all stretched me – sometimes way outside my comfort zone. But in doing so, they helped me grow as a leader and ensured that fun and excitement was always present.

In 2015, I decided to take a leadership role with Nielsen’s employee resource group, Women in Nielsen (WIN) in Europe. WIN focuses on promoting women and ensuring they have a good foundation to grow their careers. I believe in that mission, and wanted to support our talented females and help them flourish through networking, events, webinars, mentoring programs and many other initiatives.

Through my involvement with WIN, I’ve met so many talented females  who are passionate about their work, career and the activities we plan. The World Economic Forum predicts that the gender gap won’t close entirely until 2186, but the women I work with make me confident that this can happen much sooner. Every day I feel inspired and confident, and I inherently believe that we can make a difference.

This year, WIN Europe plans to launch a mentoring program and a networking program for new mothers. We’re also planning global and local events with some of our senior leaders and clients. These efforts will help our employees grow, but they will also provide our colleagues an opportunity to get to know each other and learn from one another. I am so excited for the upcoming programs and events that are in the works for the rest of the year!
