  • It was an easy choice for me to join nielsen when the opportunity arose. I have always enjoyed companies that have a big imprint on the world and have large influence in the spheres they engage in. In the case of nielsen it is the global standard of market research providing insight to both fortune 500 firms as well as local chinese giants. Despite the company’s large global footprint I have found the corporate culture to be very open and approachable – people from all seniority levels are friendly and open to fresh ideas. If you have a well thought out innovation there are willing ears to listen. If you want to be challenged to think bigger, to see farther, execute better and to grow more holistically, this is the place to be. That is what I have experienced at nielsen.

  • I was interested in marketing research and consulting because of the diverse learning opportunities in various projects. Although many companies provide similar opportunities, the people and culture make nielsen unique, and I’m still very excited that I made this decision. Nielsen is indeed an incredible place to start our career. Here we can help a variety of companies to solve their complicated business problems. Here we can feel personal improvement every day, both in working abilities and social knowledge. Here, your opinion is valued and you are asked to do more than just analysis; nielsen is such a collaborative place to work. Everyone is always willing to help you no matter how busy they are. If you’re interested in developing a broad understanding of marketing/business and working with incredible colleagues who also happen to be good friends, nielsen would be the best choice.

  • Even before I graduated university, I had been interested in market research for a long time. As a student of cultural history by training, I’m fascinated by trends and how our values and expectations inform our decisions in everyday life. For me, it has been especially interesting to carry out this research in china, where consumer expectations for the products they buy is quite different than in the u.S. Since joining nielsen, I have mainly been involved in automotive research, where my work has spanned several different areas of interest including customer profiling, needs assessment, brand positioning, and product evaluation. In this way, I have gained a familiarity with market research as well as a general understanding of the rewards and challenges of working in this field. The experience has also given me a sharper set of problem solving skills and an increased knowledge of data collection and analysis. One of my favorite things about nielsen is the creativity of the company. This is true of both the research solutions it offers as well as the general culture of the firm. As a result, I encourage students interested in joining nielsen not worry about fitting a certain mold. Your personal interests can actually enrich the work you do for the company.

  • It is a fantastic experience and was the right decision for me to start my career at nielsen. Nielsen is without doubt an academy company in the market research industry. People managers care about each individual and create a friendly environment for us to grow. Through various training courses and on-the-job practice, I quickly grew up to behave professionally and confidently when facing difficulties and challenges. There are diverse talent programs to accelerate individual growth. In 2011, I was selected into the 2-year emerging leader program (known as elp) and now I am leading a team to help handle strategic client queries and select samples for a location observation analytics project.

  • I joined nielsen not only because nielsen is the world leading marketing research company that I always admired, but also because I believed that in nielsen there would be great people to work with, and great opportunities to grow. I have enjoyed being surrounded by multiple possibilities to develop myself professionally and a bunch of amazing colleagues, have built true friendships, and keep being inspired by these people. I’ve achieved everything that I wished for, and I am sure there will be more to explore in the future. As the nielsen values point out, this is a simple, open, and integrated company, and I feel grateful for that. For those who are going to join us, I suggest you to keep three words in mind: smart, meaning work smarter not harder; curious, meaning never stop being curious and learning; passion, meaning enjoy your work and passion will lead you to success.
